Nestlé Debuted a New Line of Plant-Based and Lactose-Free Products

As plant-based foods continue to become more mainstream, Nestlé is leveraging the emerging market with its new series of plant-based dairy alternatives.

The new series includes a pea-based beverage under the Brazil Nesfit brand that boasts the same amount of protein and calcium as cow's milk and is fortified with both vitamin A and D. The brand claims that pea is one of the most eco-friendly resources to create plant-based protein, and Nestlé was able to create a delicious, shelf-stable product with a reduced sugar content compared to competitors.

This isn't the first pea-based beverage from the Nestlé brand. In 2019 and 2020, the brand debuted an oat and pea-based beverage in a carton format in Brazil alongside an oat- and pea-based beverage with Nesquick chocolate flavor across the United States.

The brand is committed to increasing its plant-based dairy alternatives portfolio with a Starbucks non-dairy creamer partnership in the United States, a vegan Carnation condensed milk alternative in the UK, and a range of non-dairy cheeses.
