Pixii SAS, a French startup reimagining the rangefinder camera, has launched an upgraded version of its signature product, the 'Pixii M-mount.' The updated version boasts a higher resolution image sensor and a new viewfinder overlaid with shot information.
Like the original, the new Pixii rangefinder is a highly compact unit with a sleek, point-and-click aesthetic. What's different, however, is that this model swaps the original's 12-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor for a 26-MP back-illuminated flavor with dynamic range, ultra-low noise floor, and superior light sensitivity.
Users can still look through the camera's optical viewfinder when taking pictures, but the upgraded camera also offers overlays of information such as white balance, compensation, and exposure speed. These different shooting aids are presented on the frame's perimeter, allowing users to adjust settings without removing their eye from the viewfinder.
