The 'Pino' mixer is the design work of Manuel Immler as part of a masters project that highlights a sustainable and chicly designed product for the kitchen.
The human-powered appliance works by being paired with the chefs choice of mixer head and requires the user to turn the crank on the opposite end to perform mixing. The appliance is made using locally sourced CNC-cut wood panels along with a cast iron base, sheet steel for the inner construction and brass gears.
The 'Pino' mixer was explained by Immler who said, ""Today we are experiencing faster than ever before how human action destroys the livelihoods of animals, plants and therefore also of humans. Our growth-oriented economy has produced an incredible production machinery that consumes more resources annually than our planet can provide. For this project in eco-social design, I have chosen to answer the question; how can I, as a designer contribute to a sustainable world?"
