Junk Science and Scott Thorough, a hip-hop group from New York, are releasing their Phoenix Down USB CD. Instead of releasing their album on a CD, they have opted for the more convenient and super small compact device of the USB.
In the form of a pixelated feather, the Phoenix Down USB CD will contain the group's full album, which includes instrumentals and acapella versions of songs, along with a folder of bonus remixes -- plus much more. The USB is soft, flexible and made of rubber.
Not only is the Phoenix Down USB CD a handy portable device, it also represents the trio's musical aesthetic with its pixelated appearance as they have "8-bit-heavy sound and lyrics," according to Cool Hunting.
As the popularity of the CD as a music storage device is decreasing, it seems like the USB is the next generation of album formats.
