The Pertitune furniture set gets its hip, 50s, industrial feel from the materials that it recycles. The set, which was designed by Netherlands-based studio Cheesign, includes a folding chair and a standing lamp, both of which were constructed from a totally different set of recycled items.
Though the folding chair in the Pertitune set is designed in the same way as the familiar, functionalist auditorium chairs, the standing lamp is what makes the project unique. Its base and stem are built from the muffler and exhaust pipe of an old vehicle, and the switch for the lamp turns on and off by rotating an old shower nozzle.
While Pertitune's bare form is stark and minimalist, that quality gets offset by the bright colors (vibrant pops of orange with a complimentary robin's egg blue) that Cheesign chose to decorate it with.
