Danish furniture designer Ib Kofod-Larsen first imagined the Pengiun rocking chair in 1953 as one of the designs in a series. Now, furniture imprint Audo refreshes the look with a few contemporary accents for the season. It embodies a mid-century modern look and represents the state that is found between sitting and moving. It visually appears to be light and the original design started off with wrought iron as the framework.
This supported a cushioned seat with upholstery and complete with a birch back. The revived version keeps the same shape with a sculptural open look and has updates in the form of the curved back and seat made from wood -- one with wood detail, fabric, or leather. It also comes in a blend of both leather and upholstery.
