Pedram Karimi is a brand that boasts gender-free concepts from Montreal -- it draws vegan inspiration as it pushes the boundaries of both social and political constraints through its minimalist garments. Its ethos lies in the sustainability of a product and the longevity of its design. For the Spring/Summer 2019 season, the fashion label continues to thrive in its simplistic and poetic nature and showcased its latest offering at Toronto Fashion Week in collaboration with RESET.
The runway show was prefaced with Karimi explaining the concept of caterpillars and butterflies, encouraging adults to avoid 'crushing the caterpillars' in reference to those who knowingly or unknowingly crush the wings of their youth. The theme was to urge people to not restrain people's wings before they get the opportunity to fly and was inspired by the designer's trip to a meditation retreat where he unknowingly crushed some caterpillars.
The seasonal pieces boasted neutral tones with fabrics such as nude chiffon, lace, white linens, and shiny black leather. To tie the entire concept together, the show was closed with two models hand in hand, walking down in chiffon dresses holding bright neon yellow butterflies.
