Underwater 3D Imaging Projects

This Underwater 3D Imaging Project Explores Pearl Harbor Wreckage

A high-tech underwater 3D imaging project is utilizing modern technology to give new insight into the historical event that was the bombing of Pearl Harbor in Hawaii by the Japanese air force during World War II.

The project will look to use ultra high-resolution data, 3D modeling, underwater acoustic mapping and LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) to create 3D models of destroyed battleships.

The project will cost over $400,000 to carry out. All the data being collected will be compiled together by Autodesk to create 3D renderings and models of the historic sites. Ultimately, the project aims to give people of present and future generations a way to remember the events of Pearl Harbor and stay in touch with the human side of the location.
