Dutch designer Paul Timmer has built a bicycle made out of ash wood and 3D-printed aluminum parts. Timmer's creation is undeniably stylish and it functions just as well as an aluminum or steel bicycle. The bike weighs in at just 24 pounds, and according to the designer, the wooden frame provides "exceptional comfort" and can absorb most bumps and vibrations from the road.
Timmer's bike has a unique look because of the fact that ash wood was used. Perhaps the biggest design change is that the handlebars sit right on top of the forks. A belt is also used to drive the bike instead of a chain (the chain's grease would ruin the bike's look). While Paul Timmer's bike is a one-off at the moment, there are plans to rework the design so that it can be made on a larger scale.
