Okta's new 'PassProtect' plugin is the latest innovation offered by the web security company that aims to show users just how vulnerable their passwords may be. This is the first casual security extension offered by Okta, which normally sells security tools to businesses, and was built on the simple idea of showing just how vulnerable a password can be. The PassProtect plugin is able to do this by comparing passwords to a database of hacked passwords and showing users how vulnerable their login info may be.
The plugin is currently only available for Chrome browsers, but Okta hopes to push the plugin out to Firefox as well as having a mobile app in the future. Okta is also releasing the PassProtect plugin to website developers as a way to install the service directly into a website.
