Performing blood tests usually takes extended periods to send specimens off to a lab to be analyzed, but his paper blood test aims to help accelerate the process for healthcare professionals.
Developed in collaboration between the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) in Netherlands and Keio University in Japan, the blood test works by having a drop of blood placed on the sheet and waiting 20 minutes. The rear of the test will glow blue when blood is administered and change to green if no diseases are present or change to a different blue shade, depending on the infection detected.
The paper blood test shows distinct promise for healthcare providers in developing nations to help to quickly perform tests without the need for traditional lab equipment.
