Pantone Color of the Year

Blue Iris for 2008

Pantone, Inc., the global authority on color and provider of professional color standards for the design industries, selected PANTONE 18-3943 Blue Iris, a beautifully balanced blue-purple, as the color of the year for 2008.

The color combo reflects "the stable and calming aspects of blue with the mystical and spiritual qualities of purple,” the company says, adding it "satisfies the need for reassurance in a complex world, while adding a hint of mystery and excitement."

"Look for it artfully combined with deeper plums, red-browns, yellow-greens, grapes and grays," the executive director of Pantone said, adding, it "best represents color direction in 2008 for fashion, cosmetics and home products."

This color will be present in a lot of proposals and designs in the following year. If you take note of this color now, you can put your designs at a big advantage.
