Designed by Clavel Arquitectos, the modern Panteon Nube mausoleum is located in Murcia, Spain. From the outside, Panteon Nube's zigzagging doors belie the inner faceted space, which has an ice cave-aesthetic. With its translucent onyx back wall, the structure has enough natural light seeping in through the day to create a softly lit sanctuary. These same doors, when shut, are impossible to open unless one knows how. Therefore, the Panteon Nube keeps the tradition of locking away the dead so that they can transition into the afterlife alive.
