Computers have come a long way from the original designs that took up entire rooms, so it is interesting that people are using peripherals that riff off of past creations; enter the Palette Freeform Controller. It is a modular computer control system that steps away from the traditional QWERTY keyboard design in order to provide a more intuitive tool.
Designed by Calvin Chu, Ashish Bidadi and Fred Ting, all of whom are based in Waterloo, Canada, the Palette Freeform Controller is meant to conform to the way an individual works on their computer. Co-founder Chu says, "I think there's a lot of a value in having something that's customizable, rearrangeable to make a tool that fits the way you work." It is made up of buttons, dials and sliders.
