Surface pattern designer and artist Ella Doran's work on a new art piece dubbed the Paint Drop is inspired by the uncertain time of the recent pandemic. It is influenced by the idea of using leftover house paint, which contributes to the artist's passion for working towards a circular economy.
She reached out online through Instagram asking for waste paint and then created the artwork on top of the reused canvas without the need for a single brush. It was showcased at The Barge House for four days before it was sold with 10% of the profits directed towards the non-for-profit art organization known as Core Arts based in Hackney, London, which is where Ella has lived and worked.
