The conceptual 'Pad Chair' has been designed by Shaohan Yang as a space-saving seating solution that would work to provide the perfect place to sit, while effectively disappearing when not in use.
The chair is constructed with a series of wooden strips that are interconnected with one another and will nest together when the furniture piece is folded. This will allow the unit to be easily unfolded when a seat is required to reveal a secure spot to sit indoors or out that is far more appealing from a design perspective when compared to conventional folding chairs.
The conceptual 'Pad Chair' is the winner of the 2021 A’ Design Award and is reported to occupy just 1/11th of the space it takes up when opened when collapsed down.
