At the 2019 National Retail Federation show, Digimarc featured Digimarc Barcode as a new package printing solution, which was created in collaboration with HP. The Digimarc Barcode offers a cost-effective way for consumer packaged goods to be tracked and traced from the manufacturer to the consumer using Link from HP, which supplies each printed object with a unique identity. When applied to a package, the Digimarc Barcode is said to create "an imperceptible barcode that repeats across a product's surface."
As well as providing each package with a unique, traceable identity, this printing solution also gives consumer brands the chance to share personalized content and coupons, plus support expediated traditional, mobile and self-checkouts.
With a rise in product recalls, fraud and the need for more transparency across the supply chain, many brands are adopting innovations centered around traceability.
