Social Literature Sharing Apps

Share and Borrow Books with the Ownshelf App

The beauty of books is being able to borrow and share your favorites with friends, however with restrictive DRMs, you can only do that if you're within the same ecosystem, but the Ownshelf app is looking to change all that.

Currently seeking funding on KickStarter, the Ownshelf app is hoping to bring the experience of sharing a book with a friend to tablets and smartphones. The way Ownshelf works is that for $20, you receive 10 years of unlimited access to their service, where you can browse people's personal libraries, store your own e-books in the cloud, and the best part is you can share and borrow books from friends like you would on a Kindle, with the exception of not having to be shackled to the DRM of any one ecosystem

If the Ownshelf sounds at all interesting, you might want to consider heading over to its KickStarter page. It also has a website that's currently in beta that will provide a preview of what the Ownshelf app will do.
