Gender-Bending Makeup Canvases

Oriental Spirit in Factice June 2011 Channels Chinese Culture

Models Tobias Brahmst and Valentin Excoiffier are transformed into gender-bending living canvases for Oriental Spirit in Factice June 2011. The beauty editorial features the makeup artistry of Min K, who channeled traditional Chinese ink paintings while creating the models' unusual look.

Photographer Michelle Du Xuan captured the duo against neutral backgrounds of pink and gray, while stylist Benjamin Bretel and hair stylist Daria Slusarczyk finished the models' androgynous aesthetic with bubble wrap flowers, carefully sculpted hair and feathery fascinators.

Joffrey Montes was the assistant for Oriental Spirit in Factice June 2011, while Ruud Van Dorn took care of the image retouching. This gender-bending editorial proves that female models aren't the only ones in the fashion world who can rock a face full of artistic makeup.
