Sculptural Retail Spaces

Apple's New Store in Singapore Pays Homage to Orchard Road's Ecology

Apple has just opened its first flagship store in Southeast Asia on Orchard Road in Singapore.

Located in an area once lush with nutmeg and fruit trees, the Orchard Road store was designed to reflect the natural ecology of the area. The space attempts to break down the boundaries between the inside and out with eight mature trees located outside the store and several more inside. The store also features a striking staircase made of Italian Castanga stone.

Instead of a 'Genius Bar,' the Orchard Road location has a 'Genius Grove,' the largest tech-help space in any Apple store. The store also features a space called 'The Forum,' which is meant to serve as a meeting place for the areas creative community. The Forum houses Apple's widest video screen.
