Founded in 2010, OneSeed Expeditions' motto is "investing in people." The team, which includes Founder Chris Baker, Director of Guiding Operations Bishnu Thapa and Director of Social Performance Tek Bahadur Dong, is a group of researchers, guides and former teachers who believe that purposeful travel can make a lasting impact on lived experiences in communities around the world.
The idea is that you can travel in a off-the-beaten-track manner while at the same time helping a local entrepreneur gain the capital they need to start or launch a small business of their own. The social mission has a few components including using 10 cents of each dollar to help fund local entrepreneurs and an employee equity program. "OneSeed Expeditions stresses its commitment to sustainability, with policies on waste, eco-system preservation, culture and supply chain management, and partnering with the local communities so that tourism revenue goes directly to guides and porters and local entrepreneurs," Springwise wrote.
This start-up will begin its travel this year.
