It is undeniable that the Onda Bench is made out of marble. The coloring and pattern on the surface gives it away immediately. But it is unlike any marble furniture ever made before. Using the material is an unorthodox manner, the Onda Bench looks as though it has been weaved with stone. Nevertheless, that is simply an illusion created by the cut of each slab.
Designed by Italian designers Paolo Ulian and Moreno Ratti for UpGroup, the Onda Bench is made out of Arabescato white marble. Each slab has been cut in the same sequence, which allows minimal scraps. Purported to be used outdoors, the Onda Bench is like a contemporary sculpture. People might not even realize that they can sit on it.
