This wildly fabulous concept for a bridge to span the Bering Strait is from the imaginations of OFF Architecture in Paris, France. The proposal was the designers' entry in the Bering Strait International Ideas Competition and entailed that they create a connection between Russia and the Northern United States. Although they did not win, their submission was a real showstopper.
The goal of the Bering Strait International Ideas Competition was, as they say, to encourage “the elimination of all the barriers like spatial disconnection of national borders and chronological disconnection of today and tomorrow, and thus, stepping forward to peace and prosperity for all earth and mankind.â€
OFF Architecture's presentation included stunningly surreal images of pedestrians and swimmers with dolphins and whales, ocean current turbines, geothermal technology and a Utopian village of tomorrow.
