Snøhetta designs the Not A Hotel Rusutsu for the hospitality brand and it is located in a ski resort on the foothills of Mount Yōtei on Hokkaido Island. It has a minimal aesthetic which is inspired by the surrounding topography. Once te project is completed, it will have a crescent-shaped structure that dips to the middle and measures 1,200 square meters. The lower section will rest partially below the ground and the curved edges on the upper floors will be cantilevered to form outdoor spaces on both ends.
Managing director of Snøhetta, Asia Richard Wood speaks about the design project and their process.
