Designed as a reusable urinal, the Night Loo is simple concept aimed at keeping women safe during hazardous bathroom trips in refugee camps. Featuring tiny packets of a superabsorbent polymer, the same material used in diapers and sanitary pads, the Night Loo is meant for on-the-go use and can easily be stored in a small space. The polymer used in the packet not only absorbs all the liquid but also turns it into a dry and odorless powder.
Created by Anna Meddaugh, the Night Loo was conceived as a concept for a class that asked students to design items for displaced people. The ultimate design goal of the Night Loo is to preserve dignity, ensure cleanliness and be easily stored. The design of the toilet also ensures it can be made cheaply and easily.
