In his latest series, Lagos-based photographer George Osodi focuses on capturing the majestic presence of Nigerian Monarchs.
The project, which is titled, 'Nigeria Monarchs: Th Custodians of Peace and Cultural Heritage,' captures figures who have long-since been stripped of their constitutional power (the monarchy was nullified in 1963), but remain important, eminent characters in the country's political affairs. It is curious and unexplainable, but their air and demeanor is immediately captivating.
The photojournalism collection, which traveled through London last year, and will continue through Budapest, proves that these exotic figures have left an inedible mark on the social, cultural and civic landscape of Nigeria. Osodi wishes to keep the collection expanding, hoping to photograph 100 monarchs in total.
