Nicholas Couch is a New Zealand designer who has created a conceptual athletic shoe consisting of only four parts. 'Transition' is designed to make you feel as if you are running barefoot, much like the shoe/sock FiveFingers, and is designed without the use of glue or molded parts.
The shoe consists of an outer sole, inner sole, a body and a set of laces that tie the whole thing together. The shoe captures the best parts about both athletic shoes and barefootwear such as FiveFingers by combining the support and safety of a shoe with the lightweight and flexible design of the aforementioned FiveFingers. While athletes may not like the idea of having to assemble their own shoes, I guarantee that they would love the ability to customize them on a moment's notice simply by pressing a button and switching out the needed parts.
