Archival Technical Sneaker Designs

The New Balance 509 Returns with New Technical Elements

The New Balance 509 sneaker model is an archival silhouette and it is making a triumphant return for the season. The running shoe is from the early naughts and it returns while celebrating its original design as well. The team works together with designer Kim Dohee to create two colorway palettes through ice dyeing processes.

As a result, the two form a black colorway and a purple colorway. Each sneaker is uniquely colored to its own as the ice melts through the process during the technique to create a rich color complexion. It is handcrafted in the process as a mass-produced sneaker collaboration as a work of art. Te designer is hosting an exhibition at New Balance's Seongsu store between October 18-28.
