We've seen whiskey advent calendars and tea advent calendars, but this year's Finnish Christmas Calendar will feature something even more unique -- one original Finnish national emoji per day.
So far, the Finnish tourism department has released a teaser of three official national emojis to the public, and they are delightfully bizarre. The first, and most lowkey, is a miniature icon of a Nokia 3310 cell phone. The familiar, chunky handset, known for being legendarily unbreakable, was designed in Finland. The second national emoji is a little odder. It's a "headbanger" symbol, complete with long hair, wristbands and arms in the air. According to the national emoji's creators, "It's dark in Finland and so is the music." The oddest of the national emoji is a naked couple in a sauna, which is apparently a huge pastime in Finland.
This Christmas season, Finland is doubly making history: it's the first country to have its own national emoji, and the first developer to show the world what an emoji looks like fully naked.
