Itoki & the Koyoju Plywood Corporation Collaborated on Stand-Up Napping Pods

Employers are starting to recognise the importance of quality sleep and napping pods are being integrated into everything from office headquarters to hospitals and airports. To save space, furniture supplier Itoki collaborated with the Koyoju Plywood Corporation to develop a solution for quick standing naps. The Kamin box was engineered for those who need a rest after working long hours.

"In Japan, there are a lot of people who will lock themselves up in the bathroom for a while [to nap], which I don’t think is healthy," says Saeko Kawashima, communications director of furniture maker Itoki. This dedicated pod provides a safe space for napping and it aims to disrupt the pattern on Japanese people working continuously with no breaks.
