Let’s hope Britney Spears, Nadya Suleman and her idol Angelina Jolie do not subscribe to Vogue Paris, because their new April 2009 issue might prove disastrous for their kids if they follow the advice of the ‘No Smoking’ editorial.
The editorial, which was shot by Patrick Demarchlier and overseen style and direction-wise by Carine Roitfeld, is full of negative mothering practices. This includes smoking next to your baby (in fact, the mother in the second image has two cigarettes, one in each hand), testing the milk on your arm, and wearing high heels while pregnant. Oh, and throwing your baby away when they cry too much couldn’t be good either!
Top model Lily Donaldson plays the ignorant pregnant mother in this sarcastic editorial. Maybe this is Vogue’s way of making fun of any anti-smoking protests. Smoking and fur are two mainstays of the fashion magazine, and we all saw how they reacted to PETA’s criticism last year…
