Matilda Wigg Erixon’s message for her ‘My Life Urn’ project is to, as she says, "embrace life by reminding yourself of your mortality."
The urn starts its journey as a planter, into which you plant a tree from seed—and a biodegradable pod containing the recipient’s placenta. As the child ages, so too will the tree grow. When that recipient’s time has come, the planter then becomes an urn into which his or her remains can be kept. The tree can be planted into the ground as a living memorial of the individual’s life.
Matilda Wigg Erixon’s Life Urn also comes with a Life Tree Story, a journal that will be buried under the tree when it’s time to plant the tree into the ground.
