After one year of development French company Enhancia has presented MIDI— a music technology ring that allows a keyboard player to control pitch, vibrato and other effects through specific hand gestures. The lightweight accessory is made out of soft plastic with a slight metal accent. The device's line of communication with the instrument is established through a hub, connected to a computer, which charges and guides the ring with mapped out effect-movement relations. These movements are set as default, although the musician can later customize them.
The music technology is worn on the right hand index finger. Its sensors track the movement of the hand and match it with the specific effect. It inevitably adds a new artistic dimension and expressiveness, while allowing the musician to engage with minimal effort.
