Multi-Colored Canes

Dominic Wilcox Creates Thread Walking Sticks for Christmas Gallery

How long does it take to wrap thread to form five canes? About 75 hours. This is the length of time it took London designer Dominic Wilcox to create his thread walking sticks, essentially canes that are made out of colored cotton thread.

Created for the Christmas gallery called ‘My Two Front Teeth,’ the thread walking sticks make up Wilcox’s project ‘By a Thread.’ They were made by tightly winding thread from spools around sticks by hand, and each of the five thread walking sticks are different as the artist’s selection of colored thread was random each time.
