Design duo Adam and Arthur introduce the Mother and Child Cabinet which has a monochromatic look and as the name suggests, references the look of a mother next to her child. The cupboard measures out to be two meters in height and is decorated with straw marquetry, which is a technique that includes forming patterns from flattened ribbons of straw and embedding them into furniture.
This design is made up of 16,000 individual pieces of white straw that create a pearlescent sheen and breaks up by interspersing black bands. The contrasting black stripes are made from straw and dyed in-house by the designers themselves. The cabinet has two humps that are made to represent the mother and child, which opens with two sets of double doors.
