Monstars is a unique set of toys designed specifically to held children suffering with juvenile arthritis. The toys aid to relieve pain and encourage the necessary exercises required for the child's joints.
Shirley Rodriguez is the designer of Monstars. She wanted to create a fun way for children to perform their pain-relieving exercises without getting bored. The toys are child-sized to fit the young sufferer's hands and they come in a variety of fun colors. There are three toys that cater to the three different types of arthritis. The pink toy works with knuckle presses, the orange toy works for finger squeezes and the blue toy works for wrist rotations.
Arthritis is a disease typically found among elderly people, however, young children can also suffer from the joint-affecting discomfort. The only way to relieve pain and suffering is to ensure consistent and repetitive exercises.
