Artist Giles Revell creates these unusual artworks using scanning electron microscopes and digital technology.
First he makes up to 500 high-resolution scans of various sections of the insects, then he merges the images and gives them 'hand-finished' enhancements.
The end result is these striking 8 ft high monochromatic photographs that depict amazing detail of the insects.
Implications - Using technology to create art is a concept that has been explored a lot within the past decade. People are looking for something more than just a painting to decorate their homes with. The more outrageous an art piece is, the more attention it will get from consumers who want to have a unique conversation starter as decor.
