The digitalization of room service menus, movie orders and other hotel-room services is nothing new for the frequent traveller. Most upscale, and even regular hotels, are equipped with television sets capable of meeting guest needs. However, for the tech-savvy traveller, the Mondrian Hotel iPads are a godsend.
The SOHO branch of the famed luxury hotel will now feature iPads in all 270 of its rooms. The Mondrian Hotel iPads offer guests the ability to control hotel services and customize content. Options to check flights, order room service, make dinner reservations, coordinate transportation and call a housekeeper are incorporated into the functionality of each iPad, as well as gaming and other entertainment options for the kids!
And while The Mondrian may have been the first New York hotel to upgrade to the newest in the luxury guest experience, it is certainly not the only one who has caught on to this hip business development. The Royalton New York, the 5-Star Plaza and several branches of InterContinental hotels have all equipped at least some of their rooms with this feature. These hotels' concierges have also received tablets, enabling them to enhance the guest-service experience.
