The Dublin Region Homeless Executive is looking to the use of modular housing, which could make for a great way to house homeless families on a temporary basis. Around 607 families found themselves in emergency accommodation in Dublin in August this year, necessitating a rethink on housing options for these vulnerable individuals.
This modular housing offers a number of advantages. They can be built in a matter of days, with most of the construction able to completed before even arriving on site. A 20-unit housing development can be completed in as little as six to eight weeks, according to the Dublin Region Homeless Executive.
This innovative initiative could go a long way towards helping the homeless enjoy basic accommodation and security at a time when they need it the most.
