Kwangho Lee Pays Tribute to Ancestry with Modernized Pieces

Taking pieces of his heritage and fusing them with everyday elements, Kwangho Lee creates this stunning collection of furniture as modernized pieces of art.

Kwangho Lee uses traditional ways of building these pieces, and focuses mainly on a stool and chair design. The furniture is glossed over with a Korean lacquer material, and also consists of a metal and bronze color. Although these pieces do not look the most comfortable for sitting in, they are perfect for decorative art, simply there to enjoy through observation.

The collection is called New Armor, as the shape of the artwork is inspired from armour worn by soldiers in the Joseon Dynasty. Motivation for the curved lines comes from the shaping of a soldiers shoulder area and abdomen from this ancient time period. Photo Credits: designboom, kwangholee
