N.D. Austin, co-creator of Wanderlust Projects, just finished undertaking a project of extreme magnitude: to bring modern-day speakeasies to New York City. Called 'The Night Heron,' Austin's speakeasy is located in a wooden water tower in Manhattan and is complete with a large bar, live music and rowdy guests.
Each attendee of 'The Night Heron' has to have a pocket watch to gain admittance, which they can only receive from someone who has already attended the speakeasy. This makes for a very strict guest list and a lot of eager hopefuls waiting for their chance with a gold pocket watch.
'The Night Heron' is a pop-up speakeasy which spent three weeks in the Manhattan water tower and has recently closed -- but you never know where 'The Night Heron' might be seen again.
