Centrumeiland, an empty and desolate area in the Netherlands, is giving tourists and residents the opportunity to go camping in and among modern sculptures and art pieces. UrbanCampsiteAmsterdam is hosting the event and has created an outdoor art exhibition comprised of 14 different pieces.
Interestingly, each of the art pieces doubles as campers' accommodation for the night. The purpose of the event is to show the impact art can have on changing the perception of a given space. Also, by using each piece as an accommodation, they can each be seen from a variety of perspectives -- from the interior -- rather than just seeing it from outside.
Campers were told to use Airbnb to book their campsite. The exhibition also included hammocks for lounging, a small kitchen and a comfortable hangout area.
