IAAC Designs the Moca Home Using Collected Wood in Barcelona

The students and researchers at IAAC, which stands for the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia constructed the Moca home. This stands for Mobile Catalyst and it is built in Barcelona using a series of wood that is gathered from the Collserola Natural Park.

It has enough space for two people which rests on top of a trailer and can be easily transported using a car. The mobile space is constructed using cross-laminated timber and it is fueled by solar energy. Co-director of MAEBB, Vicente Guallart notes, "The challenge was to manufacture a mobile home with wood, using the materials and tools that we have at Valldaura Labs so that it met the requirements of a mobile construction at a regulatory and functional level."
