Thanks to Jaguar Land Rover's new mobility door, amputees and others with accessibility needs can have an easier time hopping into their cars. Combining a mix of keyless entry tech and motion sensors, the door automatically senses when the vehicle's owner approaches the car and will swing open as they get closer. Buttons on the infotainment system and overhead of the car open or close the doors from the interior, and a radar system helps prevent the door from smacking another car or lamp post.
The mobility door is still currently in development but the company is already testing it on the door of a modifier Range Rover Sport. The technology is being tested by an athlete and former commando Mark Ormrod.
