Mobile WiFi Deliveries

These Mobile Information Units Provide WiFi by Bike

A New York public park is prototyping Mobile Information Units which bring WiFi, lighting, seating and charging ports by bike, to those looking for a break from seclusion. It's not difficult to disconnect in Manhattan's Governors Island, a 172 acre public park that receives sporadic cell service.

The park's developers initially requested charging stations to be implemented, but after noting the park's massive size, they decided these stations would be more practical if they were mobile. The studio designed a small cubic attachment that could fasten itself on the back of a traditional bike and unfold into a solar-powered canopy. The idea, is that visitors will be able to rent a Mobile Information Unit before arriving to the park, and bike it to wherever they please - providing themselves with anything they need to enjoy their stay.
