A team of scientists and innovators working out of the University of Chemistry and Technology Prague over in the Czech Republic have invented high-tech miniature robots that are designed to be able to accelerate the process of brewing beer.
The aptly named 'BeerBots' are crafted with a blend of active yeast, magnetic iron oxide and sodium alginate, and are prepared for use by being dipped into a ferric chloride solution before ultimately being treated with alkaline. When the 'BeerBots' are placed into a container of wort, they ferment sugars, before ultimately being removed from the flask by way of a magnet.
This process helps to significantly reduce the time associated with fermentation. What's more, the miniature robots can be used for two or even three fermentation cycles, making them efficient and long-lasting.
