Ant-Sized Airports

Miniature Airport Exhibit Opens at Miniatur Wunderland in Hamburg

Miniature Wunderland, a museum in Germany that features only micro-mini exhibitions, has just finished creating a miniature airport model. The miniature airport is a model of the Knuffingen Airport, one of the country's largest airports.

The model airport is extremely detailed and features all areas and aspects of a typical airport, including the landing and take-off strip, the terminal, the control tower and the airport entranceway located off a busy, bustling city street. This miniature airport model becomes even more realistic with its built-in lighting system to portray the airport at different times of the day and night.

The miniature airport took over six years to build and cost just over $6 million! It's a shame that the only living creatures able to actually occupy the micro-mini jets and tiny terminals are ants.
