Microsoft has released a captivating commercial promoting the much anticipated Xbox Gears of War 2 game.
The "Last Day" spot plays like a cross between a music video and a movie trailer. In fact, the commercial is so well done, it reminded me of the fantastic animated music videos of Gorillaz.
‘Last Day’ follows a soldier's last day in the war zone before he is shipped back home to his loved ones. The realistic animation is complemented with an emotional soundtrack featuring the song "How It Ends" by Devotchka.
The commercial is directed by Joe Kosinski for ad agency T.A.G., San Francisco with creative directors Scott Duchon, Geoff Edwards, and John Patroulis, art director Ben Wolan, and copywriter Rick Herrera.
