Modular Micro Condos

These Micro Apartments are Part of NYC's Effort to Create Affordable Housing

These micro condos are being built with the support of former New York City mayor, Michael Bloomberg. The 'nArchitect' design maximizes space so that there are 55 apartments, each 250-370 square meters. The apartments are meant for one or two people -- a housing demographic that is growing in the city.

While one may expect them to be cramped, these apartments are designed beautifully with high ceilings, Juliet balconies and combined living and sleeping areas. Aside from the individual abodes being easy on the eyes, the concrete building itself has a creative design. The modular building appears to have four vertical layers, each layer a darker shade of gray than the last.

Urban living prices continue to skyrocket in this city and these micro condos aim to provide reasonable options for residents at prices ranging between $950 and $1,492 -- much lower than the median $3,400.
