Patricia Urquiola has created a range of metal mesh furniture for Italian brand Kettal. The furniture brand released a statement about the collection, saying, "The Kettal Mesh collection recalls architectural facades, which filter the surrounding environment without stopping the light and air flow."
The Spanish designer coupled natural and synthetic materials when designing the sofa, table and chair that make up the line. The sofa features angled arm rests and a mesh back, while the base support is made from three grades of wood. The patterns in the mesh are expanded by cutting slits into the material and stretching them via machine.
This is not the first notable collection by Urquiola, who also designed a series of sofas for Moroso. Instead of mesh, those items featured materials such as jersey fabric.
